- 911 dispatch receives a call
- Police and firefighters arrive on the scene
- Responders assess the situation
- Depending on the incident, the Fire or Police Chief would be the IC
- The IC begins to solve the problem and requests resources as needed (e.g. HazMat team)
- The command structure remains in place until the incident is resolved
