OH Regulations for Radiological Release Reporting

The State requirements and contact information for reporting a release of radioactive material are located in the Ohio Department of Health (OAC 3701:1-40-14). There are several factors that will require an emergency plan for responding to a release of radioactive material. The main factors to take into consideration when determining whether an emergency plan is necessary are:

  1. If the radioactive material is physically separated
  2. If the radioactive material is not subject to release because of how it is stored
  3. The solubility of the radioactive material
  4. If the facility itself is designed or engineered to promote a lower release probability
