How to communicate an evacuation or SIP order to building managers or the general public (continued)
- If the IC wants to communicate with a larger area, and EAS criteria are met, he/she should activate the Cuyahoga County Emergency Alert System by contacting CECOMS at 216-771-1363.
- Incident Commanders should also be aware that Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College, and Case Western Reserve University all have a notification system in place that can be used to communicate with these campus communities.
- Some municipalities have a municipal siren warning system or other mass notification system or local emergency community radio system. The IC should be aware if their city has such notification systems, and if so, how to activate them.
- Any combination of these methods can be used to reach the greatest number of people in the shortest time, and ICs should consider using more than one method of notification. CCOEM will assist ICs with notification. ICs can contact CCOEM via CECOMS.
