Grants I've Worked On

Designing with Open Educational Resources Fellowship Grant

I wrote the Designing with Open Educational Resources Fellowship Grant in collaboration with Lisa Bernd, PhD, to fund the design and development of three open assignments in which students used Open Educational Resources (OER) to create OER for themselves and the community. The grant was administered by the Open Educational Group and funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. The award was in Fall 2017.  The Fall 2017 Introduction to Theater students worked on the first two assignments. I organized the three open assignments with instructions, measurable learning objectives and rubrics, and the student H5P learning content within a Pressbook titled Fall 2017 - Introduction to Theater - Learning Resources on the CSU Michael Schwartz Library's website (See: https://pressbooks.ulib.csuohio.edu/theater). It includes links to tutorials I produces on how to make various types of H5P content within Pressbooks.

I wrote a proposal for an OH-TECH website news release. View the Press Release Word document.

Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges - Faculty Development of Rich Media

After meeting with faculty and doing a focus on teaching needs, I wrote this grant to find funding for the development of multimedia projects at Ohio Northern University. The grant provided for four initial multimedia projects and detailed timelines for completion. It was awarded in June of 2006 for $10,000. Projects included an interactive learning object on Physical Assessment of a Patient (Nursing), Cat Dissection Preparation and Review for an Anatomy and Histology course (Biology), video of laboratories and interactive interfaces for an Anatomy & Physiology 2 course (Biology), and overview of lighting fixtures and a light board for an introductory theater course (Theater).

Technology Enhanced Learning Resources (TELR) Courseware Development Grant

I wrote this grant at The Ohio State University to help fund my graduate design project. My project involved incorporating optical motion capture animation and video within a Flash learning module to help veterinary medical students recognize patterns of movement associated with normal gait, hip dysplastic gait and that of a canine with cranial cruciate ligament rupture. It was awarded in the amount of $7,000 for the summer of 2002.

Teaching Innovation Award (Budget Only)

I wrote the budget for a Teaching Innovation grant awarded to Dr. Linda Wolf within the School of Nursing at Cleveland State University in 2011. The budget included funding for video equipment to produce parts of a learning module on infection control and Tuberculosis. It also included funds for the upgrade of CSU's Flash Media Server.

SEIU Professional Development Award - 2016

This grant was awarded by the Service Employees International Union to fund online accessibility training courses for 10 people on campus working on building web interfaces and training others how to do this. The courses were given by Deque University. I asked our Assistive Technology Specialist, Jeff Dell, to co-author and submit it as a collaborative grant with me.

Teaching with Technology Grant, ONU, for the Communication Skills Center

This grant was for equipment to upgrade the Communications Skills Center. They needed new equipment to record student presentations with Elluminate Live and give feedback to students. The director shared her first draft with me. I changed the wording at the beginning of the grant to focus on service provided to students and not so much the need for the new equipment. I rewrote the start and did some re-organization in the middle. This grant was successfully funded.

SEIU Professional Development Award - 2013

I wrote this grant to fund my travel to the Elearning Guild's Mobile Learning Conference held in San Diego, CA.  This grant was awarded by the Service Employees International Union.
